CO Activity

Colorado construction industry has been working to address prompt payment in the construction industry for nearly 10 years.

Most recently the Colorado construction industry labored for nearly a year prior to the 2008 Colorado Legislative Session to draft a bill that was in agreement with all parties to a construction project.  Those parties included groups that included ASAC, AABC, AGC, BOMA, NAIOP, etc.  It was believed by representatives of those organizations that a bill with full industry support would easily make it to the Governors desk. It did not and was killed on the floor of the House of Representatives. Click here to see the vote count.

Based on the 2008 ASAC Member Needs Assessment and current payment practices in the Colorado construction industry, the American Subcontractors Association of Colorado has a renewed commitment from ASAC leadership to proceed with this iniative until payment reform is realized.  (See a copy of ASAC Board of Directory Prompt Pay Resolution). Rob Wilson, GR Chair & Past ASAC President comments, ASAC has a responsibility and obligation to the subcontractors of Colorado to provide leadership in payment reform.

These pages will keep you apprised of recent developments as they relate to construction prompt payment reform in Colorado.

This narrative refers to two documents; the House vote on HB08 1306 and the ASAC Board of Director Prompt Pay Resolution. http://www.asacolorado.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=29
